Yuri!! on Ice ep 3
If this show is following a scale graph in terms on quality, it's gonna shoot out of the universe. But it's still really homo though, I had to back away a little, like I know the shit they say has a purpose but still it's kinda outlandishly flamboyant. I can't take "it's enough to make even me (Viktor), a man, pregnant! Such Eros" seriously. And suggestive cheese like this. And I love every single second of this.

Well I'ma try to not push the homo card too hard and run with the impression that Viktor's motive to be such a voyeuristic figure torwards Jap Yuri is to bring out his more provocative side. Not to say that provocative means inherently sexual, but to evoke a passionate performance without be humdrum by his shyness to express his truest of desires, for one his inability to talk to anyone about his dating life.
Jap Yuri will need to evoke his carnal of desire's to sell this routine of Eros, his desire that he's not confident in, that is for Viktor to stay. But instead of becoming the womanizer Cassablanca to enrapture Viktor, he in turns become the maiden trying to allure Viktor his desire by tapping in his feminine side, to enjoy more katsu don with him.

While Rus. Yuri still has trouble to bring out his vulnerability to people, as his child like ego won't allow his emotions to take over him. At first I was wondering why the show is shipping Yuri with the ice skating owner cause she's married, oh yeah unconditional love!

Nah it's just very gay :]

Bungou Stray Dogs S2 ep 3
This show is the MVP, been dropping dynamite episodes which is a surprise for BSD as I'm completely indifferent to the first season. Heck people watch this season even if you haven't touch the show, it's a prologue to the main story anyway. I freaking endorse it!

It's doing so much right, I can't believe this is BSD. It has a focused direction, the Ouran hackneyed comedy to serious tone is almost entirely gone, well developed characters and despite being serious, it's fun as hell. In the first season, I couldn't tell if the show wants to be a shounen or a seinen, there's blood and gore, but isn't that normal in shounens now, cause nothing seems that serious outside a couple of goons getting killed. But in this arc, bam there is stakes, Dazai doesn't seem so broken, there's fear that these characters we grew to love might die, without the asspull of a machette wielding medic. But for there to have stakes for the characters, first: I need to say how much well handled characters are done in this arc.

Holy shit, they bothered to develop characters, I constantly rant on about S1 having the shallowest characters to drive the narrative. But wow. Dazai who you remember from S1 as the guy who just jokes about killing himself all the time and well being gone for half of it has actual dimension to his character in S2, those snippets of S1 where Dazai is treated seriously instead of a joke actually is his usual character here. Of course this when he was the Port Mafia boss after all, he has to be more serious but he still has the quirks, while most of the time he does just dispense information about the mystery but the bar scenes and his dealings in the Port Mafia is Dazai's shining moments. Akutagawa also seems like an actual person now instead of being one-dimensional evil villian, well he's just a brat in general still, but now we know. Not gonna bring up the elephant in the room again with the best character the series has so far, you could look at my past post, but Oda is amazing.

So some cult called the Mimic wanting to release their souls from their original sins. I enjoyed this arc cause there is no flashy ability battles against the groups, more torwards cryptic mindgames, makes it once again feel less shounen. Arc is spectacular cause of Oda's story as no matter how much he tries to move away from his sins, they will always come back to torment him. Not gonna spoil what happens but... my heart is not okay.

Nanbaka (EP. 3)

While it was a rough start, it’s been slowing growing on me. I think I was sold when they introduced the Warden last week, and this episode just furthered my love for her. It also appears that there’s going to be a tournament of some kind going on next week. I’m curious as to what it is.

Girlish Number (EP. 2)

This hit me when I was watching. Chitose’s shirt has the egg design. It may just be me over-analyzing, but seeing that makes me think of the term “hatchling”, which refers to those still learning, like new talent. That’s what I got out of that. The best part of this show is how no one and nothing is safe. Everything isn’t happiness and rainbows, and for the most part, things don’t turn out right.

Yuri!!! on ICE (EP. 3)

As much as I don’t mind how the “recaps” are done, I hope it’s not happening in every episode. If I haven’t mentioned it before, the homoerotic undertones don’t necessarily bother me. All I know is, it’s not going to stop the fan art from happening. Anyways, it was a good episode. I’m still loving the animation, especially for the skating portions.

Flip Flappers (EP. 3)

You know, I was unsure with this series. I wasn’t that fully invested, until this episode came out. Holy crap, did my interest go up several levels! This was the best episode that has aired so far. It was a strange concoction of multiple things: Mad Max/, Fist of the North Star, Dragon Ball Z, as well as magical girl and sentai elements. The animation was spectacular; there’s nothing else to say about it. I am in love with that villain girl’s design. What sold me was the twist that happened in the climax. Things are coming to a head, and I can’t wait.

Keijo!!!!!!!! Episode 3 Thoughts

The Yuri teases are growing by a lot in this episode. They are definitely an "elite" class.
What I liked most about this episode was the use of talking about serious injuries and giving us more classifications of the sport.
I mean we all know this is an ecchi show, but is also a very unique and creative ecchi show.
If you watched this show and you don't like Ecchi, than that is your fault.
But someone that likes Ecchi this is a surefire 8/10 start.
Hell I might give this a 10 at the end of the season if it keeps it up.

Fune wo Amu Episode 2 Thoughts

The Great Passage. The Great Words of Wisdom. The Great Anime That Makes Dictionaries Cool.
This is what we have embarked upon with Fune. The most bizarre way to reach the destination of that passage to the world of entertainment.
I mean even the way he reacts to woman is a bizarre experience. Sadly with the episode deficit the show is in. It will effect it's ability to get high on my PRC list.

Yuri on Ice E3
Both performances were super well done! Both Yurio and Yuri really exceeded themselves. Yaoi undertones everywhere. 3/5

All Out E3
Explained some mechanics of the as expected. The whole gentle giant thing was kind of eh. While the captain flash back felt out of place, his back story was worth while. Given his stare felt kind of funny to me. I'm curious how the MC is going to get off the side bench and into the team. 2/5

Haikyuu! S3 E3
Nishinoya managed a save against Ushijima! They learned to handle Tendou a bit more. He's a fun character to watch. I like the sideline talk about Tsukishima being a thinker.
4/5

Drifters E3
This sure hit into the action quick! Rome didn't fall in one day, but this city fell into a beautiful storm flames, planes and dragons. The Enders were indeed formidable. It was great seeing Hannibal and Scipio together. 5/5

Stray Dogs E4
Super cool gun duel. Akutagawa powers never fail to impress. A pretty tragic episode really. I liked Oda's dream of becoming a writer. :(
3/5

Fune wo Amu E2
Mostly chill episode, with a bit or word-talk. MC's personality suits dictionary writing, it was neat how they tied in dictionaries with the escalators with "ordered chaos". The lighting was good in a non overbearing way during the final scenes. I'm sensing some future romance. 3/5

I'm just gonna recommend Cheating Craft since I don't see anyone posting about it. The premise of "Let's make a shonen battle anime out of school exam cheating with an orchestral soundtrack." is amazing and plain hilarious. It's 10 minutes per episode and it's a must see for people who like stupid comedies.

I agree, it's pretty hilarious so far. Although the first episode probably turned a lot of people away, the second and third episodes were definitely better.

Bungou Stopp ;( ep 4
Well the finality of the arc of Dazai's intervention has finally closes it's fangs. Oh well looks like we will have to move back to the main storyline after this which I'm kinda iffy about, but we can only hope that whoever directing the series this time will cast the same magic for the rest of the show.

It's just really funny, given S1 and it's abhorrence to its characters dying, which ultimately get resolved is a trip to the gentle touch of a chainsaw. Makes Oda's death seem like a plot convenience, well I know they haven't met the girl yet, but still in this universe, it's just unrealistic. Which also what I hate about S1 and what killed it's story, is that nothing really matters, I can see how hard they struggle, or even meet certain death as of ep 3 with the alley fight which at first impressed me that the show has some grit, but nah, they just get resurrected, how lame. So this will only work if you just forget S1 happened (which to be honest, not that hard) and enjoy the cathartic ending of the arc.

Even when you try to run away from your past, as Oda being a hired killer of high echelon, the corrupt past will come to bite you in the butt. As the Port Mafia had used Oda as a scrapegoat to defeat the leader of Mimic due to his ability which not to mention while being the mastermind of this Mimic group illegally coming to the city to approve of the Gifted Business Permit as Oda is the only gifted one able to deal with this. Oda tried to leave to continue to be a writer to finish his story, take care of orphans, to save himself from his past. Well until his past took everything away from him once again and he'll have to accept his fate that he could not be saved and accept closure for his sins. He said it himself: "I've acquired a lot of debts in my life" He tried to save himself while being tied to a ball and chain into the sea.

Of course it's Dazai's story too, smart how the story weaves his characterisation through Oda's story. Dazai used to be just an autonomous killer in the Port Mafia which is due to him unable to find a reason to live and to find solace in seeing a world where he sees death on a regular basis as Dazai puts it to find his true nature. However there will be the days where he would get a drink with his buddies and that helped filled his emptiness. Even then, the Port Mafia eventually took both his friends away to fill their agenda. Finally the show managed to humanize his character and his running gag of killing himself. Dazai will need to find something or someone to fill his hole now and for that, he'll need to leave the Port Mafia. Dazai's now metaphorically opened his eyes and freed from the darkness, huazzah!

Oda just wanted to be writer, C'mon at least let a man dream, instead of dying losing everything. Well Dazai will at least continue that dream, he already saved an orphan already, maybe he'll be a writer too, that'll be perfect. So this 4 ep of BSD is maybe the best show of Fall so if I drop it now, I could rate it a 8/10.

Also really excited for the new FMP announcement. Though Xebec huh...

Same guy that directed the first season is directing this season. No changes in creative were made. Its just split cours instead of a 24 episode series.

Drifters (EP. 3)

Our main trio loses most of the spotlight this episode and instead, we focus on the Octoberist Organization. Along with that, we get the introduction to the Ends, as well as some new Drifters. The scene that introduces the Ends and the Black King feels a whole lot like something out of Hirano, and I love it. There is a scene with the main trio at the end, and it’s mostly goofy dialogue and animation, another Hirano staple.

Kiss Him, Not Me (EP. 3)

Something still doesn’t feel right with the series. Some moments are funny, but there’s not much impact to it, so it leaves with more of a bland taste. I did like the little nod to Yuu Kobayashi in the eye-catch (she voiced Sasha in Attack on Titan). Maybe the boys’ decision to take things slow might help. Having them all go at it is a lot to take in.

ClassicaLoid (EP. 3)

This show is simply the best. The concept is both ridiculous and genius at the same time. The addition to Liszt and Chopin will bring out more hilarity and hijinks to the story. However, I wonder if Liszt is doing this for Bach or for her own self.

Izetta: The Last Witch (EP. 4)

I’m glad the show continues to get me invested in the story, even when there’s no battle happening. We learn more about Izetta as a witch and how witches use the ley line to generate their powers. I also believe this is the first time I’ve seen Kana Hanazawa play a more mature role, which is interesting.

March Comes in Like a Lion (EP. 3)

What a powerful episode this was. It was refreshing to see a character like Harunobu be more than just a rival to Rei. He has his own personal problems, but tries not to show it against his opponent. The second half was a real tearjerker, and what’s great about it is there’s no need to say it flat out that the mother and grandmother have passed. It says it all in the actions the family do as part of the Bon festival and Hina taking great measure of hiding her emotions from everyone. It sucks that I was watching it around other people; with scenes like that, I just want to let it out (like Hina). Only three episodes, and the show has been beautiful.

Lunger Code 1951:
So this is obviously going for a more western appeal. At doing that, it doesn't really succeed. The dialogue is very weakly written, the characters have very little personality if any at all, and I couldn't be bothered to care about the conflict at hand. If this was a full series, I might give it a look, but I think it'd fare as well as something like Terra Formars. As in, not very good.

Occultic Nine ep 3
Feel like it's a good time to talk about this. One word: Unsettling

It's almost like information overload, unable to make sense, until well the shows answers it, then throw you new ones. With each episode you are given answers to an open mystery left in the last episode, which probes into grasping a connection between the baccano sized cast while we hip and hop to the perspectives of the different characters on an underlying mystery which will lead to the suicide of hundreds of people in a lake. What's the deal?

This dissonant kind of storytelling does not want you to understand completely, the story is meant to confuse, well that's a common storytelling technique is to make a setting in which the viewer is unsure of what's happening thus can't anticipate what's happening next, common in horror, especially psychological horror thrillers. You can see the show has a demure understanding on it, never deliberately explaining scenes as in convention, but let the mystery reveal itself when it damn wants to happen, while dropping some foreshadowing or visual shock to allude to it. Ep 2: Scene A to Scene B, which seemed irrelevent until Ep 3 reveal: Ohhhhh. The show does it a lot: Ep 1: The questions, Ep. 2 the explanation. It's very in the style of Satoshi Kon of horror. The confusion is meant to unnerve as though there's a threat that you don't know of, like the atmosphere you would be getting in things like Slenderman. The foreshadowing is unreal, you can tell, it's everywhere, everywhere. I see why the show may overwelmed some people, but I mean a show doesn't need to handhold you through it's story.

Though I'm not gonna ramble about the story, cause everything is so fragmented: the research of Nicola Tesla about the spiritual world, the Occult phenomenon, the mass suicide and the murder mystery behind it and a lot more, it's such a clusterfuck of story lines. Would I trust that they could answer all of it, don't know. Though ragging about it right now cause it's confusing seems a little silly to me.

I'm gonna hope the troubles of the production committee won't be too serious.

Hello Guys! I'm new here so nice to meet you all.

GAKUEN HANDSOME
I just wanted to inform you that there is a show called Gakuen Handsome in this Season right now, which is pure Genius!!It basically is pretty crappy animeted(and yes even extremely crappy) and the story isn't really well writen, but these things are used to give this show a really funny attraction!
So my recommandation is for all of you to see the first episode (the show is just 2min per episode) and laugh your ass off for seeing really bad animation! And if you don't like the show at that point you should watch the ending Theme. It will give you the rest!
I hope you all will enjoy that show as much as I do, and have a good time with it :)

See ya, guys!

My reviews so far:

Occultic;Nine

+
· interesting way of storytelling
· damn brutal
Show is too much in progression so far to make a review

––––––––––––––

Shuumatsu no Izetta

-
· It's not my thing, not my taste of anime (a personal opinion)
· Too much fanservice for the witch. Normally I don't mind fanservice but she looks so innocent like she came directly out of a childrens book, maybe because of the red hair and somehow the fanservice is putting me off
· I don't like yuri, at least not in this certain chase (again a personal opinion), maybe cause I'm a girl, maybe this show is not for me. I don't ship these two at all. I think they are too cuddly and hyper-sweet for being friends. I never cuddled that much with my female friends and I've never seen that in any female friendship "pair". Izzetta is calling her "princess Fine", like a noble title, yet is cuddling with her – it feels off. Somehow Izzettas constant "Hime-sama" is making me aggressive. I should stop ranting about this show, it doesn't deserve it.
· somehow the show feels stiff

+
· Beautiful animation
· Realistic battles (not considering the witch)
· Likeable main girl (the blonde one)
· Show gives attention to detail (german phrases are almost throughout grammatically right)

––––––––––––––

Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru

+
· a happy show that makes you smile almost all the time
· tons of handsome male characters and super-adorable younger characters (I don't care if the little ones all behave like girls they are so damn cute)
· beautiful character designs
· nice animation

˜
· Almost no action, as is was not the intention of the show, it would take away it's relaxed feeling. Looking forward to the second show of Touken Ranbu that will be action-drained.

––––––––––––––

3-gatsu no Lion
-
None, absolutely none

+
· one of the best first episodes I've ever seen in anime
· Detailed through and through in it's visual storytelling
· It conveys the characters emotions so well that they almost feel like real people
· Likable characters through and through (we'll see about the "antagonists", if they will appear)
· heartwarming and at the same time heartbreaking

––––––––––––––

Ajin 2nd Season

-
· animation is not beautiful and doesn't feel smooth
· so far not as flashy as the first season – will see how it will progress

+
· exciting main character, nearly non-exisitng trope (at least for main-characters in anime)
· characters that are evolving, characters have flaws
· good antagonist
· brutal at times
· good story, exciting plot-twists and development

––––––––––––––

Bloodivores

-
· Illogical plot and plot convenience in the action scenes
· shitty animation
· Not much to say about the characters. Main guy didn't show much sign of personality so far – I think he's getting more interesting as the show goes on, main girl is boobs, the only interesting characters so far are the mains dad, his two male friends and the assassination guy.

+
· Plot: Interesting enough to watch it, I wanna know what happens next and what's going on. Though in my taste the plot is cluttered so the other components of the anime seem kinda drowned by it.
· Character designs: I love white haired male characters, thus I love the mains character design and I really enjoy his japanese voice actors voice.
· OK soundtrack, good OP (in my book)

––––––––––––––

Drifters

-
· it seems like it's using brutal scenes for the sake of being interesting. On the other hand, you know that you're watching a violent show and that's what makes it thrilling.

+
· Beautiful animation, love the madhouse style
· Funny humor
· Each character model is distinct
· Gotta love the inclusion of real people of history, doesn't matter if their abilities are over-the-top
· Well-structured plot and pacing. Not too much is given away already but information comes naturally so you know what's going on.
· No black/white characters. (I mean by that: No completely good or completely bad characters)
· tons of action scenes
· damn brutal

––––––––––––––

Fune wo Amu

This show is amazing
-
· If you seek for action in a show this show is not for you

+
· Seinen anime, it's not about high school kids but about a working environment
· It makes you gain interesting for something you never thought of and conveys it in a way that makes a boring topic shine
· I think the main character is absolutely adorable, in fact all characters so far seem lively and likeable
· character models are well-fitting to their personalities
· I love the op

––––––––––––––

Kiitarou Shounen no Youkai Enikki

-
· A petty that the episodes are only so short.
+
· Cute show, cute characters and character designs.

––––––––––––––

Luger Code 1951

+
· werwolfes in this show are actually terrifying, at least they seem threatening
· damn brutal
· gotta love the character designs
· again a white haired main character, instant hook. Also I love the mains personality and how he doesn't give shits about the overall situation. Also the ending was well-rounded and surprising. Looking forward to the next "part".
· I enjoy every anime that is set in winter

· The half-werwolfes look too cute to seem threatening, even though the last scene shows why they are feared
· Why the hell should I care about them finding the Code? This setting with werwolfes is way more interesting. Basically; You don't get into the story and you don't get the motivations of the "adults" in this anime. At least that's what it was for me.

––––––––––––––

Trickster

+
· everything in this show is flashy and vibrating with colours
· I think the animation looks good, the action scenes look good
· I like the futuristic style and "gadgets"
· developing characters
· Main brown haired guy is blunt, doesn't give a shit, just does what he likes. He's fun watching as he tangles around happily, but his personality seems like he's actually a deadly professional that likes to watch people for amusement beause he's too OP for his job.
· the main white haired boy is sooo adorable and awkward (^.^), he's the main reason I'm watching this
· a thin hikikomori girl where it actually makes sense that she's thin

-
· plot and pacing so far is kind of confused, you don't know what the point of this show is or where it is going
· some of the characters actions seem off for their character but we'll see if that has a reason

––––––––––––––

Yuri!!! on Ice

+
· Stunning animation
· Best looking OP of the season, also I like the song pretty much
· portrayal of social media is refreshing and seems natural
· characters have flaws, dynamic characters
· handsome characters, juicy character models
· insight in figure skating
· Victor is an asshole, but at the same time this is what makes his character; Not caring at all and doing what he wants.
· This show is drenched in gayness

-

Nanbaka (EP. 4)

It’s strange to have something like a tournament, and early on no less. However, given the show’s devil-may-care approach, it winds up not being a real problem. I’ve understood the Momotaro reference for a while, so Nico explaining it was redundant. Once again, the Warden continues to be my favorite. We also get to see Seitarou show some type of skill, which took me by surprise. I wonder how long this tournament’s going to be. Hopefully, it’s just for the next episode.

Girlish Number (EP. 3)

It was a great choice of directing where we only heard the staff from the receiving end (the voice actors) until later when their true colors were shown. Chitose, I wouldn’t call a bad actor. She has only done incidental characters before, and this is her first role. In her case, I’m guessing it’s a combination of having that “first time experience” while also continuing to show her cocky side. In the end, she manages to get a little better, but even Gojo says that she can’t keep it up.

Yuri!!! on ICE (EP. 4)

Although they’re still “pausing” the episode for explanation, this time it’s about skating other than the story, so that’s okay. New characters have appeared, and with the competitions coming up, there’s bound to be more on the way.

Flip Flappers (EP. 4)

A change of pace from the balls-to-the-wall action last episode, but for its subject matter it was understandable. I never thought of this show being as extreme as it was previously. From the looks of it, there will be various themes with each episode, which may further explain things.

Those are some good animes that I'm following this fall 2016^^ (going to try to be brief as possible since they can change of quality in the next episodes) ...and as always, why do they love to overflow the good ones at Thursdays? While there is almost dead quantities from Sunday to Tuesday =v=

Flip Flappers
Glad that people are watching it since is awesome and very colorful. I really love Papika and Cocona. Each episode so far is very good (Episode 3 gets worth of mention with full action scenes, parodies and very bizarre moments) and love the ending’s song and animation.

Keijo!!!!!!!!
I thought that would be just a fanservice anime so I didn’t consider it until a friend told me that is “Jojo in swimsuit” and wow those attacks are very like to Inazuma Eleven (and I really love battles/competitions with super moves). Very nice sport anime so far.

Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku
Honestly I first watched it because I thought that would be a bloody battle royale with maho shoujo girls. The final product is fine, but is kinda slow the pace and I want blood soo bad. Right now I’m gambling with a friend about how dies first lol.

Soushin Shoujo Matoi
A lot maho shojos in this season why I can't be one TvT. It’s decent at those moments in my opinion, our main protagonist is the classical “I don’t want to do it but I’m pretty op” which I kinda hate it but her friend Yuma will become a magical girl exorcist soon, so going to look forward for that.

To Be Hero
It’s a nice of pace have a male protagonist after the mahou-fest. It’s a very funny anime of 11 minutes long with toilet/dirt jokes and stupid alien antagonists (and the boss is the king of them as showed in episode 4 lol)

Vivid Strike!
I hesitate to watch it since I never watched Lyrical Nanoha Vivid, but I’m glad that there is no need to watch it to enjoy this spin-off thanks that the main protagonist is nothing related to Nanoha’s previous animes. It’s mostly a kind of mixed martial arts with mahou shojo outfit with really powerful punches! I like it!

Watashi ga Motete Dousunda
Sounds very average at first glance the anime’s description but what I really hooked me was the main protagonist’s senpai, whom unlike others 3 dudes who are hitting her JUST after she became cute, he seems to like her before and is pretty unaware of the competition, so he acts pretty different to the rest (and my shipping blood approves it!).

All Out!
MC got his first taste of Rugby! He did petty well. It felt super dramatic for a sub out for a practice match. Oharano showcased some of his skills. One of the things I liked about this episode is how it showed the basic mechanics of the game early on. Hopefully that means it will have more advanced plays in the future. 3/5

Stray Dogs S2
Another intense time wielding gun fight. Nice to see some insight into Daizi's way of life - he knew he couldn't save him, but he wanted to be there in his final moments. Looks like we're heading back to where the first series left off! 4/5

Haikyuu! S3
Great as per usual. What I took from this: People who hate losing are scary. Glasses-kun attention to detail paid off. 4/5

Drifters
A solid build up episode. We got to see a little into the psychology of the elves and into the Drifter trio inter relationships - through humor, in abundance. Yoichi joining in on the father/son fight because it reminded him of his brothers was pretty hilarious. 4/5

Yuri on Ice
Yuri is learning to trust himself better. This episode gave a sense of ones time, this in all likelihoods is Yuri's last year of professional competitive ice skating. Yurio too realized that his body is ageing - so he decided to go full ballet on us. Pretty good ice skating performances at the end. Looking forward for the competition to begin! 3/5

Fune wo Amu
That beginning was awkward. It had a friendly feel going on during the monthly meeting, everyone has a warm appreciation for each other. While only in two brief scenes the household owners daughter left a strong impression. I liked the definition at the end. Love: A feeling of constant or strong affection for a person. "He fell in love and his heart ached for the first time." 4/5

Flip Flappers! (EP 3)
A huge shift from earlier episodes. While the show maintained its bizarre environments and random events, it took on a darker tone and had more action scenes. There were also the warm embers of a plot, including a twist on one of the characters.

Drifters (EP 4)
The calm before the storm. A bit of history of the elves is revealed and we get an insight into the Black King's motives. There wasn't as much action in this, much less the gore that was promised in the earlier episodes but this should be balanced by the battle in the next episode (a hunch).

The comedy felt a little misplaced and the emphasis on Olmine's boobs wasn't necessary. I seem to have expected something different with this show.

Keijo!!!!!!!! (EP 4)
Elite reveals. The battle between Kaminashi's team (there were others but you know they're just tack-ons) and the Elite revealed the special skills of both members of the teams. Both Aoba and Miyata have grown as characters. Of the three battles, there was an expected victory, an unexpected victory and an expected/expected loss. I'm looking forward to the next episode.

Soooo seeing as we're now about a month into the Fall season, I figured I should make some sort of update on the current standings; haven't done one since my initial first week impressions:

3-gatsu no Lion - 7/10
Sangatsu was my pre-season pick for what I thought would be the best anime of the season. So is it? I don't know, maybe. By now it's pretty clear that this is basically a panel-by-panel adaptation of the manga which, don't get me wrong, is certainly a very good thing. Compared to having off-putting and/or rushed pacing, this is significantly better. However, it also means that the anime needs more time to really get going, so after just 4 episodes it's still very much in the early stages. But it is very well directed as Shaft anime tend to be, and there is a ton of interesting foreshadowing already, so I definitely think it'll only get better in time. Exactly how much remains to be seen, but I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually grabs that AotS spot once March comes around (see what I did there? hue)

Anitore XX - 6/10
Well... it's more exercising with cute girls, whaddya expect. Not a whole lot to say here, I still can't believe this got a sequel, but I'm enjoying it somewhat in its simplicity. Some of the exercises seem downright dangerous though, idk if I'd really encourage people to work out on a moving train exactly...

Brave Witches - 6/10
Our resident Strike Witches spinoff is... well looking like a typical spinoff. I.E: following about the same plot points but with different characters. It lacks originality but the concept wasn't bad to begin with so I think it's okay. We haven't gotten any really epic action scenes yet though which was what made the original series as fun as it was, so hopefully that'll change in time. I haven't really warmed up to the characters all that much yet though unfortunately

Girlish Number - 8/10
This definitely turned out to be the surprise hit of the season for me. Sure as hell not what I was expecting it to be, nor was I even planning on watching it at all but I'm glad I decided to give it a shot. Chitose currently has the #bestgirl of the season award locked down pretty handily I'd say with her cynical way of thrashing pretty much the entire anime industry she's working in. Not that she's alone either exactly; most of the characters in this show come off as selfish bitches only looking out for themselves whilst trashtalking everyone else behind their backs. It's a pretty refreshing thing to see in anime which is generally always so happy-go-lucky, and its savage nature is surprisingly funny. There's still the chance that it'll eventually run out of steam and lose its novelty, but at the very moment at least I'd say it's probably my favorite anime of the season

Haikyuu S3 - 7/10
Well we're playing volleyball, who would've thought. Then again that's exactly what we didn't do for frickin' half of last season so in that sense it's sure as hell an improvement already. I like how this season seems a lot more compact with how it's literally 10 episodes of continuous 5-set volleyball and nothing else (presumably). Saves us the boring training arcs and half-assed drama that way. So this could definitely turn out to be my favorite season of Haikyuu thus far in the end, even if it's less than half as long as the others. That being said it all depends on how the rest of the finals turns out. So far pretty much everything has played out almost exactly like how I imagined it would which is kind of disappointing, so I hope it can manage to surprise me somewhat before the end at least. But as long as the eventual result (even if it is super predictable) doesn't turn out to feel too forced or cheesy, then I'll probably raise this to 8/10 when it's over at the latest. But for the very moment, I'm playing it safe

Hibike Euphonium S2 - 5/10
After how the first season played out, I didn't really expect anything else, but either way Hibike is just the same as it has always been... and by that I mean it's fucking boring. I honestly don't understand why so many people look at this as some sort of comeback by KyoAni after the lengthy slump. If you ask me this is way below the likes of Hyouka and Tamako Market, and only slightly above Phantom World and Kyoukai no Kanata. So that'd make it the third worst KyoAni anime I've ever seen in that case. I don't know, it just feels like another one of those shows which tries to do several different things at once but ultimately fails at all of them. It's part slice of life, which isn't enjoyable because all the characters are incredibly plain and boring, it's part drama, which isn't enjoyable since it's just your typical high school teenage issues like we've seen a million times before, and it's part music, which isn't enjoyable because the tracks in here are just straight-up bad, and that's coming from someone who generally loves instrumental music. I mean I guess that's sort of intentional since they're supposed to be rookies, hence why they're always getting yelled at by their instructors, but it's still pretty annoying to listen to. I mean even the likes of K-On had numerous fantastic performances in it, and that wasn't even about music at heart, it was just part of the setting. So what are we left with? The story, characters and music all suck. I guess the animation is still as godly as it has always been in KyoAni's hands but that's about it. Even now giving the first season a 6 and this currently a 5, I still can't help but feel I'm being too lenient on it. It should probably be a 4. Maybe I still have some subconcious KyoAni bias left, idk

Keijo - 7/10
Keijo was the anime which could've turned out to be either a complete trainwreck or a surprise hit, and fortunately it was the latter. It's hard to explain the sheer level of ridiculousness there is in this anime to anyone that hasn't seen it yet, so if you haven't I'll just say... go watch it. It sure as hell doesn't look like any other anime at least. Is it hype? No. Is it arousing? No. Is it utterly hilarious? No. However, it will make you constantly smile and often giggle to yourself (and occasionally facepalm a bit) at the sheer absurdity of what you're watching. It's fun to see an anime as self-aware as this which doesn't try to hold itself back by making excuses of any sort. It's silly to the max, and it knows it. That's what makes it good. Not like masterpiece levels of good mind you, but certainly worth watching

Lostorage Incited WIXOSS - 7/10
Discounting the somewhat different battle rules of the game this time around, Lostorage feels pretty similar to the first season of the original WIXOSS thus far. However, that isn't necessarily a bad thing, because the original WIXOSS was a surprise hit when it came out. And while Lostorage (still not sure how this is supposed to be pronounced btw) doesn't have originality on its side anymore, it's still just as interesting in terms of story and setting. Hopefully it'll keep itself together

Natsume Yuujinchou Go - 7/10
Again, not a whole lot to say about this; if you've watched this far in the Natsume Yuujinchou franchise, you know exactly what to expect... and well, you'll get it. That's pretty much it. So the same opinion I've had of the series since around season 2 still remains; almost all the episodes on their own are certainly very good, but as a whole it does get pretty repetitive, and also it doesn't really progress very much in the big picture. It's still one of the best anime of its genre around, but it's not a genre I'm particularly fond of to begin with so that can only carry it so much

Occultic;Nine - 6/10
This has turned out to be by far the biggest wild card of this season. After one of the worst opening episodes I've ever seen in anime, Occultic;Nine has made a surprisingly good comeback ever since. Apparently the first episode covered an entire LN volume (!) all on its own, hence why the pacing was an ungodly abomination, but from episode 2 and onwards it's been more like 25% of a volume per episode, I.E: standard LN adaptation pacing. And it's really showed, because as a result it climbed out of the hole it dug itself into. As for where exactly that leaves the anime right now however is very hard to say. The plot is quite similar to Durarara structurally with how it keeps jumping back and forth in time, and you really have to keep tabs on the dates to put everything together in your head. Also the complexity of it all makes it almost impossible to judge properly before it's over. I guess I'll say that it has potential to improve drastically still, but it's just as likely to crash and burn a second time too. I guess we'll just have to wait and see

Okusama ga Seitokaichou S2 - 8/10
What can I say, for what is literally nothing but an ecchi short, can you get much better than this? Like really? It's so good, seriously. It's realistic, it doesn't have any awkward drama, out-of-place camera shots, physics-defying boobs or anything like that; all it has is a boy and a girl in an actual intimate relationship, and them doing lewd stuff together as a result. It feels perfectly natural, many of the scenes are so close to hentai that it's actually really hot momentarily, and it's even all uncensored right away. If it wasn't for the fact that it's unfortunately a short (which it seriously doesn't need to be given how much content the manga has), this would be one of the best ecchi anime ever, no joke. And it's funny because it proves that literally all you need to make a good ecchi anime is a boy and a girl in a relationship doing sexual things to each other because they love each other, and for it to be obscene enough to be hot. That's literally all. So why do we keep getting all these magic academy battle harems instead, give me a break already...

Shakunetsu no Takkyuu Musume - 7/10
Another anime I wasn't planning on watching originally, but ended up doing so anyway. I think the first episode was surprisingly captivating, and really established the anime as a potential hit. However, a few episodes into it I'm a bit skeptical again. The execution of the games has turned quite cliché, Koyori's winning ability is awfully close to nakama power if you ask me (protip: that's not a good thing), the character designs are really off-putting at times, and the animation has a hard time keeping up to the speed of the table tennis matches. That being said it is still quite fun to watch for some reason, but the execution could be better. I still have it at 7/10 but it better get itself together pretty fast or that'll probably drop

Teekyuu 8 - 5/10
It's fucking Teekyuu. 'Nuff said

www.Working - 6/10
So far this has been a surprisingly solid addition to the Working series. The fact that there's no Mahiru in here is a huge plus in and of itself, but even discounting that part it's pretty much on par with the main series I'd say. The characters may all be different, but they're wacky enough to fulfill similar roles just as well, and thus the execution of the show itself becomes more or less the same. I.E. nothing amazing but a decent comedy show. 1-cour should be enough though; the main series got pretty draggy after having a whole 3-season airing over the years. Also btw is there any way you can write the title of this anime without it turning into a damn hotlink automatically all the time? Getting kind of annoying >.>

Is it bad that I find this season being so good that I could walk away with 5 new favourite anime after this. No?! Cause well I'm digging a lot of shows right now, sad I won't get to watch them during November cause of exams (not messing around neow), so why not just throw a junk post of the anime I'm digging and some short jabs at some I don't before my vanishing act from MAL, *spooky.

Good Tier

Middle of the Road (droppable)

If I were to make an APR, it'll go like this
1. Hibike Euphonium S2
2. Bungou Stray Dogs S2
3. Yuri!!! on Ice
4. Occultic;Nine
5. 3-gatsu no Lion
6. Fune wo Amu

Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku
I'm actually really enjoying this, the show was always going to suffer for the madoka thing but anyone comparing the two and brushing this aside i feel is being a bit unfair. The characters are interesting and while most people might have been turned away by the whole battle royale thing, it isn't really nonsensical or in your face. The large cast works both ways for it though, i'm dying on one hand to see more of people like Calamity mary and you get the feeling that if it's only 1 cour it won't show any of most of them but the few so far have been good enough. A few mysteries and semi-plot twists and it's been good so far.

Drifters (EP. 4)

This episode was more exposition-driven and comedy-driven at the same time. There was a lot explained here that they skipped over the opening theme to get all of it in. I didn’t mind it that much, as it gave us some funny moments. It was more of a build-up to what will happen next week.

Kiss Him, Not Me! (EP. 4)

Adding a girl to the mix is a fascinating choice, and so far, Shima’s blowing all the boys out of the water. She’s sure gotten points from me.

ClassicaLoid (EP. 4)

Schubert was more hilarious then I thought he was going to be. From his introduction tease we got last week, he seemed to be more on the serious side. However, what we got was way better than what I was expecting. There’s also a brief glimpse of where and how the ClassicaLoids escaped.

Izetta: The Last Witch (EP. 5)

Revealing Izetta to the citizens, especially the enemy, is a bold move to make. Only time can tell if that was the best choice or not. I did enjoy the staged act during the battle in the second half.

March Comes in Like a Lion (EP. 4)

I’m glad the show’s not all serious and drama. The quirky moments shown in this episode is one of the aspects that I like about it. The first half had a similar fashion with the one about Akari, but this time with Hina. It makes me wonder if we’ll get one for Momo. I think the highlight of this episode was learning about Akari’s bizarre tastes.

If I had to choose my top 5 from this season so far (roughly 4 episodes for all the animes) it would be something like this:

1. 3-gatsu no lion
2. Saiki Kusuo
3. Drifters
4. Flip Flappers
5. Fune no Amu

3-gatsu no lion
The story is really good so far and the little bit of his past that has been shown makes me even more interested in watching it. 3-gatsu also has a nice ratio between the seriousness and comedy that is shows. The 3 sisters are fun to watch as well haha.

Saiki Kusuo
Thank goodness it's getting more episodes, I've never seen humor quite like it and I was sad when I heard it was stopping at 85 episodes.

Drifters
They are all insane in the membrane but I can't help but love them haha. The whole secret society thing has got me interesting in finding out more about the series as well.

Flip Flappers
It's random and colorful and I love it. It's not like any of the other series' this season and I really enjoy the adventures they go through. Definitely an interesting series for me.

Fune wo Amu
After airing later than most of the other series, I quickly took a liking to it. It's got a simple story to follow and is very relaxing to watch. Very enjoyable.

Bungou Stray Dogs S2 ep 5
This episode was the greatest so far really liked it. We got the main cast back the last arc was awesome really liked it but i hoped we got another episode of it. The op left me speechless yet hyped up for what yet to come (it's basically the same kickass song with new visuals.)
We got new characters introduced in this episode, that woman with the demon ability is pure badass.
Final thoughts: I don't know how the agency will defeat the powerhouses of the guild, they look really powerful.
Liking traps is gay and liking Lolis is Pedophila.

Nanbaka (EP. 5)

I wonder if the show would be as good if it were a battle-comedy because it works well here. Although, I keep forgetting that it’s supposed to be a regular comedy. Next episode is reportedly the last of this tournament, and it makes me wonder how the show’s able to top this. It would feel weird if it went straight back to the original format; the tournament will then seem out of place. Also, once that’s over, it marks the halfway point. Now, I’m starting to think that the tournament might have been better near the end to top everything off.

Girlish Number (EP. 4)

A decent episode. I wonder how far the show will go. With there being issues on the anime (within the show) from the get-go, I’d love to see things go downhill. Nothing too drastic, I just want something to happen. Otherwise, the show will end up mediocre at best.

Yuri!!! on ICE (EP. 5)

It sucks to see the animation look this unfinished. It was probably my biggest worry for this show, and it’s now become reality. Of course, story-wise, it’s still enjoyable. However, the visuals complimented it, as well.

Flip Flappers (EP. 5)

We can’t tell if Yayaka is the bad person here. The crystals have still been a mystery and no one has explained the purpose of them. That along with the stunning visuals are what draws me into the show.

Days (15-17)
So I had a few weeks break but managed to catch up this week. A few things I dug is that the ever fumbling Tsukamoto finally showed some usefulness on the field, bar from raising his teams morale shtick. While not on Kuroko's (KnB) level, his ability to be a a defensive striker enabling the other strikers to have possession of the ball behind the scenes was actually really great to see.

The newest episode would have had to be one of the most exciting with Kazama getting fired up, playing in top form in front with his mum. They seemed to have a kind of estranged relationship but I'm sure part of him wanted to impress her, which if you know Kazama goes against his non nonchalant and almost whimsical way of life. 3/5

Bungo Stray Dogs
It was pretty cute seeing Atsushi and Kyōka together again. The Armed Detective Agency got wreckt. Lucky they have a healer who can bring them back fully healed through questionable methods. This ended on a really good note. A three way supernaturally gifted war sounds exciting. 4/5

All Out!!
Training erry day. I enjoyed the captain/vice captains acceptance and respect for the surprise coach who under-minded his rugby training style and tactics. 3/5

Haikyuu! S3
Hinata learned block!!! (maybe) 4/5

Drifters
Oda tactics stink in more ways than one. Shimazu showing some morals, along with more slicing and dicing. Yoichi has the best comic relief moments. The ending scene leaves little to the imagination. They skipped the OP again. 3/5

Yuri on Ice
The show flashes back to the nude Victor hot spring scene quiet a bit. Yuri's ice skating performance was great, especially during his second round which was more emotionally driven. He showed a lot of confidence and it was nice seeing the dynamic between him and the kid he was competing with?, who he admitted that he saw his a part of his past self in. 3/5

Fune wo Amu
Pretty cute episode. Majime improved from his last encounter with Kaguya. The landlord lady knows whats up. The montage with the OP playing was cool but felt a bit out of place with the rest of what was going on. 3/5

Keijo!!!!!!!! is actually pretty fun to watch as long as you don't take it too seriously. I personally am watching it mostly because I really like how well the water is animated.

3-gatsu no Lion is a really nice, calming seinen slice of life, and probably the only one I recommend out of the ones I'm watching so far.

I personally really like Occultic;Nine because of the occultic nature of it and how it reminds me a lot of Bakemonogatari. This was the only anime I was so excited to watch, especially after hearing it's being made by the same creators of Steins;Gate

And lastly, I'm having some fun watching Yuri!!! on Ice. I actually do like the opening sequence in it. I enjoy the comedy in it and all the memes associated with it on tumblr, and I especially enjoy the character dynamics and how everyone is so driven to do so well in tournaments.

I will just copy one of my posts from one anime facebook group where I'm active because I'm lazy.

The best ones so far:
Flipflapflipflapflipflapflipflap = it's fun as hell and cute and even though first episode was kinda boring, the other two really improved what this anime lacked, it's great so far
Keijo!!!!!!!!! = I mean, it has tits and ass and cute girls and ass and op is good and ass
3-gatsu no Lion = it's really freaking good so far, I like everything about it so far

Average stuff:
All out! = it's ok, mc is annoying as shit, but still kinda fun
Drifters = it's fun as hell, but there are some things that are ridiculous and are just bugging me
Shakunetsu no Takkyuu Musume = it's cute and fun, but it's boring at times and the animation is a bit weird
Stella no Mahou = it's about cute girls making a video game, but it's more about them spending time together

Bad:
Occultic;Nine = this one is a total mess, it's really fast paced and dynamic, but still super boring and there are some illogical things that make no sense

Sequels:
Haikyuu!! S3 = it's pretty good so far, I like it

Dropped:
Shuumatsu no Izetta (3ep) = really generic and boring, the only good thing about it is the setting
Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku (3ep) = this one is pretty ridiculous, unlogical and edgy as shit and it just kept getting worse with time
Classicaloid (1 ep) = this one seemed cool, but it's just really boring and characters are horrible
Long Riders (1.5 ep) = extremely boring slice of life thingy that tries to have some sports elements
Nanbaka (half an ep) = horrible humor for 14 year old girls and a really generic fujoshi shit
Touken Ranbu (half an ep) = fujobait with really bad humor
Trickster (5 mins) = I don't have much to say about this, I watched maybe 5 mins of this and it made me really upset that I wasted my time on that

Want to watch:
Yuri on Ice = I heard that it's really good and I saw some screencaps that seemed really funny and ridiculous, I think I'll download this and watch it

Drifters (EP. 5)

This is the second time in a row they cut the OP. While I understand why they would do that, it sucks because I like the song. Also, I thought this episode would conclude the whole battle plan with the Elves. It seems, from where it ended, there’s not much left for this arc, so we might get more afterwards.

Kiss Him, Not Me! (EP. 5)

Is it just me, or was the sound of Kae falling the same as Godzilla’s stomp?

ClassicaLoid (EP. 5)

So, finally, after a few episodes, Bach is given more words to say. And, of course, he only speaks in musical terms. We’re also getting things like the Rat King from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker as a character. Kanae’s father is mentioned more this episode, where we learn he’s responsible for Beethoven’s gyoza obsession along with the ClassicaLoids, themselves.

Izetta: The Last Witch (EP. 6)

As the show reaches the halfway mark, we get some time to relax and let the girls do their thing before getting back to serious matter. That little twist at the end took me by surprise a bit. I wonder what will happen during the second half.

March Comes in Like a Lion (EP. 5)

It’s a great choice to see how Rei is in the present for a few episodes before being shown what his past was like. We’ve gotten small hints here and there, but now we’re getting the full picture (to an extent). And the reveal wasn’t out of left field; there was a nice segue way into it. Nothing else to say but I’m loving this series so much.

NANBAKA (EP. 6)

I thought this was going to be the conclusion of the tournament, but it looks like there’s more to go, and I’m not so fond of that. However, upon research, it looks like the manga has done the same thing. Also knowing there’s a whole lot to the manga than I expected, I now want more of the anime than we’re going to be given (unless if another season ever happens).

Girlish Number (EP. 5)

From here, it seems things are going downhill (in terms of what’s happening in the story). The director of the anime is checked out while the original light novel creator is in his own world. Along with that, Chitose is finally learning the harsh reality of criticism.

Yuri!!! on ICE (EP. 6)

I’m now less worried about the animation and more worried about the pacing. A lot was happening and it felt rushed. There were quite a few new characters brought onto the scene and we see each of their performances. I don’t mind it (the choices of music is great), but cramming it all in one episode is overkill.

Flip Flappers (EP. 6)

While not having a specific style or genre this time around, it was nevertheless a clever episode. I was somewhat confused when it got underway, but I slowly started to realize what was happening. It was a unique way to learn about Iroha without her being a part of it. That makes me wonder if she’ll play a bigger role in the series.

Been awhile since I've done this. I've tried to get around to doing it again but just haven't felt that drive to do so. Regardless of my overall enjoyment of the season.

Keijo!!!!!!!! Episode 6 Thoughts

Since I haven't commented on this in awhile.
I would like to mention how pleased I am that two major things that I asked for in getting me to care about the characters and providing unique finishing moves has been met.

This episode we saw the power of a pro player and the growth that our newbies need to reach.
We were also given out next plot point. What are the parts of the body that is lacking for these character to get to the pro level?
The show doesn't take itself seriously but at the same time it does give us progression and that is why it is working so well for me.

Fune wo Amu Episode 5 Thoughts

The hammer that gets knocked down huh? *sigh*
It makes sense though. Why let that talent go somewhere else? But it is depressing about his situation and how the higher ups are messing with the current status of show.

I was afraid that they weren't going to deliver with this "DOOM" arc that the Great Passage might get shutdown but with the utilization of Japanese culture. I'm happy with this episode.

Bungo Stray Dogs
The new loli girl has a menacing presence, even Daizi is scared. Mind control is pretty OP. I wonder what he was referring to when he said that he will play his trump card. It's not wise to under estimate Kunikida. 4/5

Yuri on Ice
Slight dip in animation quality. I feel the fujo's would get more out of this episode than me. Still a lot of fun. Yuri aced his performance, and the other competitors showed a lot of heart. 3/5

Natsume (1-2)
If there was one word I could use to describe Natsume it would be sentimental. First episode felt a bit rushed with re-introducing characters and concepts before hand but was still really good. The second episode was even better! The backgrounds are beautiful. 4/5

Fune wa Amu
A nice Nishioka centered episode. Majime playing it old school. 3/5

Drifters
Hitlers portrait was oddly funny, along with the chatter surrounding him. More Youichi family jokes. Two new characters were introduced, bad ass pirate dude and a glamoured up Dio Brando, appearance wise, okay maybe that's a stretch. 3/5

Haikyuu!
The flash back of the third years was nice, they were even a determined bunch back then. I really like Tobio and Tsukishima's interactions. Don't cry Yamaguchi. 4/5

Hibike! Euphonium 2 07: Was this bit of drama really necessary, i think not, doesn't look like it's trying to develop Asuka and more about the band's chemistry and how they can work without her as they depend on her a lot, but there really were more subtle and natural ways to go about this that didn't need to disrupt proceedings so much. Asuka's a 3rd year, why wait so late to have her quit, okasan?

So it's been about 3 weeks since my last seasonal update in this thread (which you can find here) so I figured I could do another one. I'm not going to repeat everything I've already said though, just things I feel have changed in the last few episodes

Girlish Number
I did say this was my surprise #1 show of Fall a few weeks ago. So what about now? Well... I think it still is, but it's very close. The show is maintaining a consistent level of cynicism and fun, but it's also getting a little bit repetitive. That, combined with the fact that there is some competition for the top spot by now leads me to believe that Girlish Number probably won't remain my top pick for too much longer, but we'll see where it goes

Keijo
Similarily, Keijo's novelty is also starting to run out. Hysterical ass attacks can only remain funny for so long. That being said, it is showing some versatility as of the last two episodes by focusing more on character development rather than fighting in the ring. Unfortunately, this also comes at the price of being done through training arcs, which is something I find quite boring in pretty much every sports anime ever, so that doesn't really improve things too much for me anyway. Hopefully the upcoming west vs east war can help the show regain the hype it's slowly been losing for the last couple weeks

Occultic;Nine
I find it legitimately funny just how much better Occultic;Nine is now compared to after its first episode. It's like a completely different anime. It's gone from being the unrivaled #1 trainwreck of the season to possibly top 5 material. Currently my thoughts on it are quite similar to Durarara in terms of plot and Monogatari in terms of dialogue, but for the same reasons it's hard to really make a good statement on it until all the plot threads are tied together. The ending is going to be the make-or-break factor for this show

Shakunetsu no Takkyuu Musume
Like I said before, this anime has slowly been declining after its solid start as more and more clichés and plot conveniences kept popping up one after another. However, a positive upswing might be starting again as we're now moving into more competitive play outside the club instead of just inside it, and the unrivaled #bestgirl of the series has now also just shown up (Kururi). Seriously when was the last time you saw a straight-up yandere in a moe show? I mean other than Higurashi, that's pretty damn rare

Flip Flappers
Last but not least, after some debate I finally decided to pick this anime up a few days ago (pretty sure it'll be that last Fall anime I pick up though) and... well I went through those currently aired 6 episodes within 3 hours. That's not a pace I can keep very often anymore. Suffice to say, this anime is really fucking good. Incredibly strange yes, but it manages to be both light-hearted, imaginative and plain fun, whilst still having a ton of deeper messages and symbolisms at the same time. That's honestly super rare. It's pretty much always one or the other, not both. Anime which tries to be deep often end up feeling like nothing more than lectures a lot of the time, but Flip Flappers succeeds brilliantly on both fronts, which is a quite impressive accomplishment. It is a bit confusing sometimes though, but not so much as to feel detrimental, and even if you won't understand absolutely everything, the show is still a lot of fun to watch for the aforementioned reasons. We'll just have to wait and see exactly how far it can go, but for the moment it's clearly one of the standout shows of the season for me alongside Girlish Number and 3-gatsu no Lion (and Okusama ga Seitokaichou in its own spicy way)

Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku 08
There's been a lot of improvements over the last 2-3 eps, but for whatever the show does well it does find a way to do something else wrong. This episode for instance was simply just violence more than anything, while i thought the last ep was brilliant, it needs to find some sort of balance of not just going all out when there's not much to do. Characters like Swim swim have had their personalities seriously warped since the beginning.

Shuumatsu no Izetta 08
Really don't think it should so easy for a spy to infiltrate a warring nation, at the very least the citizens should show a bit of vigilance and be wary of new faces in case they are spies. Also Berckmann is becoming a problem, in order to uphold his genius image the show is having to pull off some weird quirks, it does seem like he's either discovered/created a new witch most likely and the allies getting ready to betray Elystadt feels like doing a bit too much just to raise tensions.

Bungou Stray Dogs S2 (4/5)
A lot of cool things went down this episode. From Atsushi to escaping and going through some mental introspection to Q being caught by Lovecraft and Atsushi's dangerous idea at the end.

Yuri on Ice (3/5)
Well it looks like Yuuri and Victor took a step forward in there relationship - I kind of like them to formalize it at this point, or at least confront each other or something. The ice sating performances were filled with emotion as per usual. Second place is pretty good. Looking forward to Yuuri v Yurio.

Drifters (4/5)
Joan of Arc and her body guard dude put up a really good fight. Her burning burned at to a stake backstory was pretty tragic but kind of expected.

Haikyuu! S3 (5/5)
I really liked seeing Ushijima's and Tendo's back stories. It was the first episode that made me question which side I wanted to win.

3-gatsu no Lion (4/5)
It's always nice to see a happier Rei. Yuusuke's arrival was awkward in the best kind of way. I liked the part when Rei was explaining why he lost, and all of Nikaidou's moments.

All Out (3/5)
MC comes to terms with a few things. Kind of surprised he made it on the team, well he has a lot of passion. Pretty decent training arc.

JBA The Diamond is Unbreakable (5/5)
I just wanted to mention that this has probably been my favorite anime series that has aired this year. The resolution the the back Stand was unexpected, I really like how the series uses Morioh's previous events, people and landmarks - when you are in the mindset that it will only be used for that one episode. It was nice seeing Rohan and Koichi bond. Kira's serial killer urges grew but was caught by his son, that bath scene as weird as it was had pretty good tension.

Cheating Craft Final Thoughts

I don't know what has happened to this show.
It was sitting at a 6/10 when we were just getting these testing episodic episodes but now things have just gone into a downward spiral like Taboo Tattoo after episode 3.

So with that I am dropping this show with a 3 out of 10 score.
This show is just garbage and it is really unfortunate with such an interesting plot given in the first episode.

Bungou Stray Dogs S2 (3/5)
The Agency and Port Mafia team up for one day, it was interesting to see the two heads meet and come to a fragile understanding. Lovecraft lives up to his horror reputation - the fight was okay, the tactics involved, while powerful, weren't all that captivating - it did highlight the trust between Daizai and Chuuya's antagonistic relationship.

JBA The Diamond is Unbreakable (5/5)
Rohan figured out who Kira was, well kind of. Bites the Dust is one of the strongest stands I've seen yet - I'm still not sure If I fully understand its capabilities. One of the better executions of time loops I've seen, Kira was always one step ahead of me.

Haikyuu! S3 (4/5)
The way both teams bounce back continuously shows how close the match is. A few moments I liked; Yamaguchi got a few serves in, Tsukki's return and Hinata's improvised block.

All Out (3/5)
The elephants left the room - someone said it, the captains hair does look really weird, lol. I wanted this episode to show how far they had come after the training camp but instead they crumbled against the token team who uses psychological jabs to win. Well, its only the first half and I'm expecting a comeback.

Yuri on Ice (4/5)
Oh no, not the dog! I really enjoyed seeing Yurio again, and his performance was top tier - I liked how full of doubt he was but managed to tackle those emotions. Something bugged me about the american guy who scored the highest, could just be that he is so cocksure and talented.

Drifters (3/5)
Build up episodes always feel a bit weaker to the action orientated ones. I liked how Hannibal was dubbed "Grandpa" by the rest of the Enders. It clarified Oda's plans and why he wants to play behind the scenes and Toyohisa to rule in contrast to the Octobrists own ambitions, as well as what Toyohisa seeks - which all could have been grasped by the viewer beforehand.

Natsume S5 (4/5)
A trip that delves into some of Tanuma's past and his friendship with Natsume. The shadowy Yokai looked pretty creepy. I liked the air of mystery about who the extra guest was. Bitter sweet feels at the end.

Hibike Euphonium ep 9
This show is the only show this past month I've consistently watch every week to take a break from the stress. The just has this atmospheric calming effect of how the mundane slice of life just plays out with immense realism, while still tackles the character development aspect of the band members to keep it interesting than just pure slice of life with a twist, which is why I couldn't get through Natsume Yuujinchou for the life of me without drool in the side of my mouth (the soundtrack is nice study music though).

"You sure are a Euphonium". I could swear there is some Japanese wordplay being missed here. Maybe literally comparing Kumiko to the Eupho, as Kumiko is a brash but alluring personality completely sincere in tone, is what I'm getting at with this, which is just really just a shot in the dark. But whatever, this is really the best episode of Euphonium thus far. One of the more evocative directed episodes, whoever storyboarded this on the kyoani staff, really enjoys thighs. But seriously, lots of the shots are powerful, like Kaori who bends down to tie Asuka's shoelaces says a lot of how she respects her by bending down and wants to consolidate and help with her problems and support her with tying her shoelaces, good directing notes. Not to mention the intimacy between Kumiko and Asuka especially that last scene. It's just beautiful. While still obsessing over the thighs (not complaining).

Asuka's burden of being the single child of a single mother, is mounted with expectations of being able to be good in your studies to honour the family that fed and raised you and get a job to then raise and feed your own, that's how filial piety works, they are your family, no matter how harsh they are, you must respect their wishes, as Asuka puts it "a shackle of life". This is no western fantasy of leaving your parents to pursue your dream. Asuka is a 3rd year now as she's gonna take probably the most important tests of her life to get to a good university as you know in Japan. So as a single mother with all her pride resting on her only child, her future is worth more at sake than a fleeting concert band. And would you look at that her grades also dropped, that would get you a mouthful. Euphonium's portrayal of Asian parents seem pretty spot on with the expectations they put on children, look at Kumiko's dad and older sister dynamic, you might not think it's fair, but it isn't without a purpose.

Well this show is still the none disputable, best show of the season. I'm gonna watch Bebop now cause I deserved it.

+Reina acted like she creamed herself when Taki-sensei accepted the keys. I found it very cute.

I'd argue that Natsume does develop but just not through big drama moments, he's definitely changed from the character he was from the first ep; he's learned to trust more, he's more outgoing and in general just more confident.

Side characters development is less. Given the large amount, it's only really noticeable if the focus is shifted towards them.

It could be that none of it happened in Yuujinchou, although I vaguely remember him becoming closer with Madara and his school friends. Well in any case it's a very passive series so I can see where you're coming from.

@lab_coat

What I remember of Natsume is this mopey kid who is not likable goes around putting yokai in sheets of paper every episode while learning about the mythology of the yokai or something like that. Unless your into the mythology aspect, then watching it gets a bit too tedious. Well maybe part of why I couldn't follow Natsume's development is that he's just not interesting.

Well the only thing that kept me interested was the bickering of Natsume and Nyanko sensei. I remember the first season, that the big finale was that he made a friend. That's that I guess

He's given a book of yokai names from his deceased grandmother, which grants power of over them if abused. He was giving the yokai their names back with the sheets of paper.

Each episodes focus is a little different but it mostly involves a yokai who has a problem, or is causing one. It goes a little into the mythology and folklore but its more often than not about previous events, dealing with human and yokai relationships - whether it's adoration or revenge, misunderstandings, wanting communicate or just to see "X" person again. It all resonates with sentimentality.

I never found him to be particularly mopey. Mellow, reserved and timid come to mind. To me he was the type of character who is too kind for his own good, so when he gets into fights or complains to Nyanko's antics it shows different, more lively side to him. Yup, that sounds about right, I guess its not really for everyone, haha.

Amazing analytical skills! And I am relieved to find another person not straight out rejecting OC;9. tho your opinions may have changed now
